On Tuesday, NBC confirmed that Steve Carell will leave The Office after one more season. This means that Carell, who will have both Despicable Me and Dinner With Schmucks performing in theaters, will in deed have more time on his hands for his family and/or for more movies. With a almost dozen of movies tentatively on development, Carell is one busy comedy star. Apparently, today we can add one more film to his plans.
DreamWorks Studios has bitten into the original comedy pitch “Raised by Wolfs” from writer Les Firestein. Steve Carell is attached to star and produce through his Carousel Prods.
While the studio has its muzzle shut on the plotline, the odd spelling of Wolfs is apparently a reference to the main character’s last name.
Vance DeGeneres and Charlie Hartsock of Carousel are executive producers on the project.
Carell is a great actor, specially a comedy genre actor. Although I’m sad that he will be leaving The Office, I totally understand his reasons why. Him leaving TV, means more movies from Carell, so that’s good news. With tentative titles in development, such as Missing Links, Mail-Order Goom, Hi-T, and Get Smart 2, it’s pretty clear that he’s betting hard on comedies. For now, we can also add Raised by Wolfs to that list.
