Brolin compares Megan Fox to Katharine Hepburn

Since Josh Brolin went on record to admit that Jonah Hex was a bad film that “got away from its original vision” he has been trying to recover his reputation.

But apparently he isn’t done making statements and this next one raises an eyebrow as he defends Megan Fox comparing her to Katharine Hepburn.

Get the Big Picture shares:

Brolin feels that like Hepburn, Fox just isn’t appreciated in her own time. According to Brolin:

“Katharine Hepburn, one of the most appreciated actresses today, was hated back in her heyday. She was box office poison … They didn’t understand her. Yet now we all look back and go, ‘Okay, she was incredible.'”
He went on to add: “I would love to be the person who puts Megan in a film in which she can actually do something interesting.”

Now at this point, I would say this is utter nonsense. This girl is nothing but a pretty face, which is the same criticism that Hepburn got in her day.

But maybe one day a project will come out and Fox will blow us all away and people will talk about that film wondering where she has been hiding this talent.

I’m just not holding my breath.

  1. I get where he’s coming from. Bad scripts and bad directing can make anything look awful.

For ages, I thought Salma Hayek was nothing but a hot body. Then I watched Frida and she blew me away with her portrayl of Kahlo. Similar story with Jessica Biel in Easy Virtue.

  2. Yeah, until Megan Fox gets a chance to stink up a real role I’ll reserve my judgement on her acting skills. I mean Michael Bay made John Turturro look like he can’t act in the Transformer movies. And back in the day when people saw Angelina Jolie in movies like cyborg 2 and Hackers all they thought was man she’s hot. Those movies really didn’t showcase her acting abilities. And Megan Fox did her job in the Transformer movies. She looked hot and delivered her lines just as well as anybody else did in those explosion pieces.

I mean people rag on Blake Lively from Gossip Girl, but she apparently is really good in Ben Affleck’s THE TOWN. You never know. It’s all about opportunity.

And look at the source. Brolin after acting for years only really broke out three or four years ago. Because he finally got the opportunity for major dramatic roles instead of small supporting roles in movies like Mimic and The Hollow Man.

  3. If Brolin had compared Megan Fox to Jane Russell, maybe he could get away with it. Maybe.

    But damn…Katherine Hepburn!

Tell you what. I’ll concede. I cannot rule out the possibliity that somewhere between Megan’s ears there is something more than just a sign that says Space For Rent and inhaled smoke. Maybe it’s going to take a few more films, working with better directors and not being a self made diva and one day after reinventing herself she will get lots of respect and accolades.

    Meanwhile, Hell freezes over…

  4. To be fair, it’s not like she’s had a lot of actual ‘ACTING’ gigs. And by that I mean the most we’ve seen her in is Transformers and Jennifer’s Body. Nothing I’d say were serious acting gigs.

  5. Well this isn’t the first time someone defended her either. I remember last year Mickey Rourke made some comments about her after he got to work with her the first time. He said he wasn’t expecting much and was surprised.

So yea, there may be something to Brolin comments. Sorry, I cannot remember where the Mickey Rourke article was to site as source. Old fuzzy memory and all you know.

  6. She has one hell of a Porn career ahead of her!

all kidding aside, I dont see a Hepburn here.

maybee more along the lines of Katherine Mcphee or say…. Elizabeth Hurley maybee

  7. The problem with Ms. Fox in which Brolin completely ignored is that early in her career Hepburn won an Academy Award for Best Actress, not Supporting, just Best Actress. Fox unfortunally doesn’t have that power early in her career, and she may be a pretty face but that is probably the only connection that those two should ever share. Hepburn was critized for many things, but unlike Fox, she delivered.

  8. I can see her being an amazing actress, with the right director to push her. I say have someone like Fincher put her in one of his movies and have him churn out an amazing performance from her.
