Batman Arkham City Trailer Online

I honestly don’t think we would have seen a gritty real Batman video game if it was not for Nolan’s take on Bats. And with the raving success of Batman: Arkham Asylum, we are getting a sequel called Arkham City and the trailer looks amazing.

Honestly I think the cinematic cut scenes of these games are getting to the point that I don’t know why they just are not making feature films out of this stuff.

I would totally watch a feature film that looked like that!

  1. I agree with Knossis batman arkham asylum is the greatest superhero game ever. I think this absolutely looks amazing I can’t wait to play it. I’m more excited for uncharted 3 though by far the best game series ever created storywise, gameplay, and def graphics. The trailer at the spike VGA was awesome and I can’t wait for November 1.

  2. Rodney, I agree with u 100%. I’ve been saying for a while now that the trailers, cut scenes, and opening and closing cinematics in video games look better than most of the action movies being made in Hollywood. The cut scenes alone in Resident Evil 5 were better than the whole Resident Evil: Afterlife movie. The cinematics, commercials and trailers for Assassin’s Creed are nothing short of works of art far surpassing the majority of what movie studios make.

  3. This cinematic screams Blur Studios, the same studio that did the Knights of the Old Republic mmo’s cinematic. They also did the DC Universe online one that still baffles me as to why Hollywood movie studios just don’t change over to full CGI for super hero movies.

    1. They won’t change over 100% because the public loves to see real actors up on the screen. They like to see actors physically embody a character. They won’t to see the actor’s take on an icon comic character.(Heath Ledger’s take on the Joker comes to mind) Total CGI only seems to work on animated fare because those worlds are often filled with talking animals and what not. The public doesn’t expect a semblance of realism in animated movies. They do expect it when dealing with Superhero’s because many of the stories are placed in our world.

    1. I doubt very much this is an actual cut scene from the game. More a promotional trailer. The cost of making every cut scene in the game in this quality would be astronomical surely.

Also does anyone know how this trailer was created. Some of it just seems to realistic to be CG, did they use motion mapping of what???? I would expect any cutscene from the game to be similar to those seen in the first game.

Rodney’s right though, why aren’t they making movies in this style of CG?? It’s something to think about once Nolan’s trilogy comes to an end!!!

      1. The Unreal engine is capable of rendering that quality of image in real-time.

There is a 720p video on youtube named “2010 Unreal Engine 3 Trailer” with far more sophisticated graphics than used in the Batman trailer.

  4. That video looked amazing but It has one huge flaw! It is a live action video and not video game footage. I will never understand why most video game trailers never show the actual game. Instead they show live action re-imaginings” or kids in front of a tv playing the game, or other crazy videos. I think this Batman video was well done but it is a horrible video game advertisement. They could easily of used in game footage of the game because the graphics look pretty good.

    1. seems to me as if they released any game footage they’d give a bit of the game away. this trailer is just to spark your imagination and make you wonder what the game’s all about. i think it’s an amazing form of advertisement and it has me on my toes to see what the story lines all about.

    2. While you’re correct that it is not in game footage, this is not “live action”. This is CGI. Live action is when they use real people.

I still think this a good way to advertise the game. It’s an awesome video that gives a taste of what the game will be about. Which is used to get the consumer hooked and wanting to check it out. After awhile they will start releasing gameplay trailers on sites such as Gametrailers.com. They usually show ingame screen shots in game magazines first though.

      1. CGI instead of live action regardless, it’s still misleading. I really liked the trailer but it isn’t the game. However, this is better than the Call of Duty Black Ops trailer that showed Jimmy Kimmel and other people as if they wre in the game.

    3. I feel ya bro! All the game commercials are B.S.! they show you the “story” part for 58 seconds with like 4 1/2 second shots of actual gameplay.

      Always hated that shit!
now I go and watch youtube gameplay videos to really see what’s up.

And yes, Arkham gameplay was visually great.
sad to say most other games aren’t though!

  5. I’m liking the new Batman video games alot. They are following the mythology of Batman pretty well, even keeping the same character designs. I loved the first game, even though the last boss was a joke ( no pun intended) this game looks very promising.

  6. I think that feature is going to be called Dark Knight Rising. If Nolan does something along these lines it would be good. Can’t wait for the game though, I really liked the first one. Best Superhero came ever in my opinion.

  7. So I am wondering if WB isn’t taking this game as an opportunity to perhaps introduce Hugo Strange before he appears as the main villain in The Dark Knight Rises.
