First Look At Thor’s Hall of Asgard

Today, a new image has been released in the LATimes, from Marvel’s Thor. It’s our first look at the Hall of Asgard, home of the Norse Gods. Also, besides getting our first real peek at this majestic throne room, we can also notice the presence of Loki, in his horned helmet (on the far left side); Frigga, Thor’s mother played by Rene Russo (next to Loki); and Hogun the Grim (Tadanobu Asano) and Fandral the Dashing (Josh Dallas) on the far right. In the center, we can see Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and Thor himself (Chris Hemsworth) kneeling before him.

I like it. I have no problems with it. I was a little nervous with the first images of Odin (eye patch) and Thor. Now with this new one, I’m more at ease. I’m liking the look and vibe of director, Kenneth Branagh’s vision of this world. Can’t wait to see some real footage!

What do you guys think? You more excited or less excited with each new image revealed?

  1. The costumes look really tacky and cheesy! Everything looks like it’s from some 70s-80s costume movie. I’m worried that this one will be a flop.

  2. It’s good to see that both the set designers for Masters of the Universe and Flash Gordon are working again and that they work so well together.

  3. I’m a Marvel Fanatic, But this is startin’ to look alot like Chronicals of Riddick in the set designs……..Hope I’m wrong.

F’n loved Thor in the books!

  4. I’m just happy to see Loki’s horned helmet in the far left corner of the pic. Seeing how these pics look now is cool because I am sure its going to be amped up once the CG is in there.

  5. Looks a little too monochromatic. I don’t know anything about how it looked in the comics, but it just seems to have too much gold–it’s very metallic. I guess I just imagined more of a rustic, wooden structure. Maybe something of a grander version of what actual Norse people lived in.

  6. Looks cool. Why were you nervous of Odin’s eye patch? He only has one eye. Most of the time he’s depicted with just one eye closed but incorporating the eye patch isn’t that big of a deal. Was it just the style of it?

    1. yes Jon,
what I meant was, that my first reaction was a “little” lukewarm because it look cheezy…but with each new image I’m starting to get, and like the vibe that they are going for…

      1. I hear what you’re saying. I think they could have gone a simpler route with the eye patch but it does work into the rest of his armor. I’m happy to see his two crows and his spear in this picture.
