Jonathan Liebesman Confirmed to Direct Clash of the Titans 2

With the poor decisions made on the remake of Clash of the Titans, I am not surprised that Leterrier wanted to distance himself from the sequel. But now someone else has to play in that mess of a sandbox he left behind and it looks like Jonathan Liebesman is that guy.

ScreenRant shares:

After Louis Leterrier declined to return for the inevitable Clash of the Titans sequel, Warner Bros. had to move on to other possible directors. Back in June we got word that Battle: Los Angeles director, Jonathan Liebesman, was at the top of a shortlist of directors – now it’s been confirmed that he will direct Clash of the Titans 2.

I haven’t seen much of Jonathan Liebesman because there really isn’t much. He has a handful of films of which I have only seen one.

I am indifferent on him as a director for this, and it seems they are going with someone vague and relatively experienced but lesser known.

I just hope he can make something of the world they have left him with. I will wait on a script synopsis before I build any anticipation on this.

I’m still shocked at how shitty that film was.

It Made the original look like The Godfather

  2. There was a great battle scene with giant scorpions which was well done, the Magi dudes came by, stole the damn movie, and then the most interesting, original and engaging concept took hold. Everyone taming the nasty scorpions and riding on them like giany camels. OUTSTANDING! and then they were gone (save one til the end) The love story from the original is gone, the need torescue Andromeda was moot.

For me, the sense of wonder and imagination seems to be ripped away. It wasn’t the effects serving the story, it was the story serving the 3-D converted effects. It wasn’t a terrible film, but it was disappointing, and that’s even worse.

As for Liebesman, I’m sure he’ll be fine. My only concern is that before this, he was in talks to direct a new version of The Oydessy. Why do I shudder that Persues will get in the way of Odysseus…

This may seem weird, but I would love to see a remake of Jason and the Argonauts. If they do it right, it can have the same great effects as Clash of the Titans, and hopefully retain the same great sense of story as the original.

my greek mythology wet dream is a true adaptation of the odyessey. it is my fav book of all time. the center story of a man away from his wife for 20 years and stays faithful and true to her, and fights everythin in his path. if done right, it would be a 3 hour epic. i dont want a rookie who is kind of into greek mythology to do it. so we’ll wait to see what he does with clash 2.
