Martyrs Remake eyes Kristen Stewart

The Hollywood adaptation of the French horror film Martyrs is getting a remake thanks to Twilight Producer Wyck Godfrey and he isn’t straying far from the bullpen to pick his star as he eyes Kristen Stewart for the lead role.

Godfrey now tells Fearnet that he wants “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart to star in the new film. “I would love for Kristen to do it,” he said. “We’re doing it for an American audience with an American cast.”
The original “Martyrs” shocked audiences for its unrelenting violent nature. It revolves around a young woman’s quest for revenge against the people who kidnapped and tormented her as a child. That leads her and a friend, who is also a victim of child abuse, on a terrifying journey into a living hell of depravity.
The original French Horror film is critically acclaimed, and could be a match for Stewart who will soon be looking for non-vampire big screen gigs.
Stewart plays damaged and hurt rather well, though she lays it on pretty thick for the emo driven Twilight. I do wonder if she will outlive her Twilight fame. though she hasn’t rested on that alone (filming other projects between installments) it is what she is most known for right now.
Time will tell.

This remake will be lost so bad in translation. Why not just release the french one and try to help people get out of their “I can’t read subtitles” funk? I mean, Crouching Tiger did it…and not many people seemed to mind watching Inglourious Basterds with subtitles around 70% of the film. Doesn’t make sense.
The original was one of the most disturbing movies I have seen. Although Kristen Stewart has a slight resemblence to the actress who played the lead in the original, and granted I’ve only seen Stewart in the Twilight series, I don’t know if she has the screen presence and acting range to pull off the main character portrayed so well by Mylene Jampanoi in the original.
Take it Kristen!!! Cant wait see Kristen to Martyrs remake!!!
