National Treasure 3: Page 47

— Posted by Rodney

As many films do, a quick suggestion that there is more story to be told is left near the end of the movie. This happens in National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets where Gates is after the Journal that lays out all of US History’s cover ups.

The President urges Gates to read Page 47, and we the viewers are then kept in the dark. Will this be the basis of the third film?

/Film quotes National Treasure 3 writers Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard regarding the secretive page:

“We were asked to start there [when writing the third film], so that is where we’ll start. The plan is to start from what’s on Page 47. The idea of the Book of Secrets is spectacular. It’s a great idea. The second movie sort of introduced it and used it as the center of the movie, so it is smart to make the third movie ‘okay, what treasure hunt will come out of the book of secrets’, which is kind of what the end of the movie started.”

I really like the idea of keeping everything connected. Gates’ passion for uncovering secrets will no doubt nag at him as Page 47 likely tells of another treasure or secret.

This secret is rumoured to take them back before the forefathers to their European roots.

There is at this time, no evidence that there is a new movie in the works. After the delay during the writers strike there has been no further communication about the development of this project.

All we currently know is that if there is going to be a new movie, they WANT to make it in Europe, they started looking into reviving the projects in June 2009, as for the actual plot…. the online speculation is as good as it gets…

Life altering…it could be a reference to something that hadn’t happened when it was written but had by the time the President saw it, suggesting time travel or a skill in manipulating events far into the future or devine planning revealed? Unraveling which could be the entire movie.

This does seem like a natural progression. I’d almost say it was anticipated. I do seem to see a few posts in movie blogs and such about National Treasure that seem to suggest that fans of the franchise want to see what was up with Page 47.

2011 is the release I believe?
