Tron Legacy will have extended IMAX Scenes

Peter at /Film was sharing an interview with First Showing with Tron director Josheph Kosinski about he Tron Legacy Trailer release in IMAX, when Peter asked him if Tron would be presented in IMAX.

Most of the film will be presented in widescreen, 2.35:1 aspect ratio, like it will be in your normal multiplex screen. But in the IMAX presentation, five special action sequences are being rendered at 1.7:1, which means that you will see a lot more on the top and the bottom. This makes a huge difference for a 3D presentation. As you know, an IMAX screen is up to eight stories high and are designed to extend to the edge of your peripheral vision, creating a more immersive experience.

I like that they are making the effort to make the IMAX experience different, giving you more value to seeing it on the bigger screen if available in your area.

At the same time, if you don’t have access to an IMAX you will have to wait for the DVD and Blu release which will inevitably have the extended content on it with the select IMAX ratio scenes.

I can’t wait!

So extended means height(feet) and not length(time)?
