BP Spill: The movie

How would you like a movie based on the BP oil spill? Surprisingly Michael Moore has nothing to do with this new film, yet, and details are just now coming our way as to what the film will be about.

The film will be based on a New York Times article titled Deepwater Horizon’s Final Hours written by David Barstow, David Rohde, and Stephanie Saul, which chronicled in depth the events leading up to and including the sinking of the now legendary oil rig. At the screenwriting pen is Ninja Assassin writers Matthew Sand who has no other credits under his belt to assure us of Horizons’ quality.

I’m not quite sure what to expect from a film about the oil spill as most of everything that could, or needed, to be said about the event already has been said. My curiosity begs to know what they intend to do with this film as the movie is being written by someone who wrote Ninja Assassin so I’m bewildered as to what they may have in mind. Is this going to be a documentary? Will it be a semi-fictional story during the event of the spill similar to Oliver Stone’s World Trade Center? Inquiring minds would like to know.
