David Russell likes Johansson for Uncharted’s Elena

An interesting, and unexpected, comment came from Director David O. Russell regarding the process of bringing the game “Uncharted” to the big screen in which he mentions actress Scarlett Johansson while discussing the casting of Elena.

Coming Soon reports:

CS: From watching The Fighter, we would love Amy Adams to play Elena…
DR: Oh I would love that too, I love Amy. I also love Scarlett Johansson; there’s a lot of great actors I think might suit. Hopefully, we’ll see how it works out with everybody who are being scoped to do that role…

There has certainly been a lot of casting rumors surrounding this movie with the latest possibly throwing another monkey wrench in fans’ “dream casting” for this movie. I think either actress could definitely portray Elena on screen and work opposite of, presumably, Mark Wahlberg in this film.

I like that his mind isn’t completely made up yet and he’s still considering others for the role. I’m not quite sure who I’d like to see be chosen but I do, lonesomely, encourage the idea of differentiating the film franchise from the video games and I hope he does something unexpected. I am definitely look forward to seeing how he handles the property moving forward and will keep a keen eye to share more news as it arises.
