Godzilla gets a writer

The Crow, Batman, Man of Steel, Ghost Rider, and Blade. This man has written for them all and is now adding Godzilla to his already fairly gargantuan resume that measures up with his previous credits.

Gareth Edwards is the man calling the shots on the new Godzilla, which will attempt to kick off a new series of films featuring the Japanese monster in a more successful fashion than Roland Emmerich’s critically-despised 1998 film did.   Deadline is reporting that Goyer will work from an earlier draft of the Godzilla screenplay penned by David Callaham, the co-writer of the 2005 Doom movie

This movie is getting more credible by the minute. Goyer has a good idea of what appeals to the folks around here and I’m pretty excited about the idea of him handling this script and maybe ironing out any issues that Callaham may have missed.

  1. I love Godzilla but American audiences are quite hard to persuade(intellectually). Hopefully they actually pen the Movie for Gojira than whatever dopey/dorky actor with whatever love arc to the dam side…!

    Zach Snyder to DIRECT
-a director that focuses on who’s on the Title-

    Evil G

    In Godzilla We Trust….

  2. I actually liked the ’98 Godzilla. I felt it had just enough of a classic look, while updating it to be more “realistic,” rather than a dude in a costume standing up straight.

    1. I liked it sort-of back when it came out. BUT recent viewings with my 5yr old (He’s a Shōwa series godzilla fan) I have to say the “Cheesey” by comparison-in effects only- Godzilla 2000 was more fun to watch and had the Classic Look.

I’m one that believes this Godzilla must have a “Classic” look to some degree for it to be called Godzilla! if not just call it “Monster”

Matthew Broderick is STILL cool in my book though….I forgave him

  3. “co-writer of the 2005 Doom movie”

    Doom was a joke!

Hope they bring the Funk on this bigtime…..
    Jet Jaguar Rules!
