John Whitworth says he’s Blackout

News broke long ago that John Whitworth had a role in the new Ghost Rider movie, but there was no revelation as to who he would be portraying in the film. Recently John Whitworth revealed that he’s playing the villain in the upcoming Ghost Rider sequel.

“I play the villian who, at the beginning, up until like page 70, is human,” explains Whitworth, “I’m not a very nice guy. I’m bad. I get turned into, for those who read ‘Ghost Rider’, the character Blackout. I get turned into him by the devil to complete my job. That gives me the fortitude to fight Ghost Rider and the supernatural abilities to compete on some level with that guy.”

Ghost Rider was one of those comics that just didn’t “stick” with me, so I’m really not too familiar with this Blackout character. I’m hoping that the crew working on this film have decided to present us with a better villain than the sad excuse of a Blackheart we received in the last flick but they’ve yet to hit a home run with a character redesign in my eyes.

  1. Interesting… I’d rather have the straight to DVD version of this one, or the cartoon movie. Not sure how they are going to sell this idea to the masses this time, but we’ll see.

  2. Blacheart wasn’t the foe I expecte but that’s okay by me. The character has metal fangs, and can dampen light sources. He’s more menacing looking than Blackheart. But as pointed out, that’s in the comics…

  3. I hope this rocks hard! Problem is , 1) Nic’s returning 2) the 1st one showed us that even the coolest of comic book heroes/villans should probally stay on the pages and not the film reel.

Top it off with the “Crank” guys (possibly a decent idea)
and one’s gotta ask: WTF are they gonna do with this one.

All the last villan did was stare at a floating plastic bag for christ’s sake!

    1. What the hell happened to Nic? There was a time that I really looked forward to this guys movies. I enjoyed the National Treasures movies, but that’s about it for the last decade or so.
