Megan Ellison has won an auction for the rights to make at least two more installments of The Terminator franchise, with Fast Five’s Justin Lin attached to direct and Arnold Schwarzenegger attached to star. The deal came down to Ellison’s Annapurna Films and Lionsgate, which seemed to have had the project sewn up until she came forward with a dramatic bid. The auction at the time was for a guarantee for at least half of the $29.5 million paid by hedge fund Pacificor to pull the franchise out of bankruptcy.
Looks like we’re getting 2 more movies soon-ish before those rights revert back to James Cameron. I’m definitely looking forward to see how things develop from here. The Governator has expressed interest in returning to this franchise with Justin Lin in the directors seat, and I’m intrigued to find out what ideas they may have for this franchise.

I can appreciate what Ellison does even though it seems sort of random to me… it’s like she has a movie that she would like to see get made, and she makes it.
It must be nice to have heaps and heaps of money.
if Arnold is coming back, it’ll be interesting to see how they make him look younger again to match his previous T-800 appearances. Or, they could say he’s a flesh and blood character who the T-800 appearances were based off of (Like Jango Fett with the clones), and he’s actually in resistance to the terminators and ends up having to face off with himself (as a Terminator).
whatever they do, it’ll be fun i’m sure.
Justin Lin improves so much from film to film. I would like him to do something else before he does Terminator but hey maybe this will put him on the list with the big dogs.
I dunno if this will still work. The Terminator franchise has run its course with T1 and T2.
If a young bridges can look pretty friggin good in Tron Legacy then Arnie will be fine. Him Fighting himself as “Mr.Sterculius” said above? That could be sweet.

I’ve never heard of this Ellison person so initially I thought it might be a relative of Harlan Ellison… which would have been brilliant
Megan Ellison is the daughter of billionaire Oracle CEO Larry Ellison.
And she was a producer on True Grit. So, hopefully this is good news for The Terminator franchise. I’m not sure on anything else she’s been involved with, so I’m reserving judgment.
If Lin can do what he did with the Fast and Furious franchise, with the Terminator, I have faith.
