MSN Filmfan talks Larry Crowne and Transformers Dark of the Moon

I am back again with another installment of the MSN FilmFan segment to talk about this coming holiday weekend. Tomorrow is Canada Day here, and Independence Day comes Monday for our International Friends to the South.

MSN FilmFan has weekly updates for us each Wednesday and this

will go on for the first half of the Summer Season, and I will see if you want me to take over these weekly features for

the rest of the summer and beyond.

This week filmfan supergeek Sami Jarroush has trailers for Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Larry Crowne and talks about which he would rather go see:

My easy pick is Michael Bay’s explodorgasm Transformers Dark of the Moon. Larry Crowne just doesn’t grab me despite loving the poop out of Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks. Oh I will get to it soon enough, but its not high on my priority list. It’s clearly catering to the opposite of people who cannot resist the draw of giant robots with explosions.

Interesting to note that Bay (despite the hate that seems to be shoved at this man) once again proves to be listening to the masses and tweaking his film making process to appease them. He is even going out of his way to be asking theaters to boost the bulb in 3D presentations because – NEWS FLASH – 3D glasses dim the picture. GASP!

I like Bay for making popcorn films and his down to earth shameless devotion to that middle of the pack mentality that cranks him out blockbusters. Spoilers already are tearing apart plotholes and logic leaps in the film but it will still rake in more money than anything else this weekend for sure.

So what do you think about the FilmFan segment? Would you like to see more of it here? More of me doing similar bits?

(Come on, I know you want to see this handsome mug again)

Let me know in the comments, and let me know how you feel about MSN FilmFan Sami Jarroush’s picks for this weekend?
