The Dark Knight Rises adds Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson lied to us. He lied right through his teeth to every Batman fanboy on the internet. Today we learn that not only is the guy returning for Nolan’s 3rd Batman, but the guy is reportedly already on set and filming scenes. Yeah, I know!

Christopher Nolan is bringing his Batman trilogy full circle, as “Batman Begins” star Liam Neeson has joined the cast of Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ sequel “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Warner Bros. had no comment on the casting, but sources tell Variety that Neeson will be reprising the villainous role of Ra’s al Ghul and has already filmed a scene in London.

This is great news, but man I hate being lied to like that! I mean on one hand I think Neeson brings a very welcome presence to a fairly crowded ‘Dark Knight Rises’ landscape, but dude lied! I mean, I’m sure he was under some type of gag order by Nolan and co. and I’m sure I’ll get over it pretty quickly, (probably by lunch time), so for what it’s worth let’s all rejoice that the Demon’s Head has returned.

  1. You guys know what? I think it’s a great idea to have Neeson back as Ra’s Al Ghul. He might end up being the main villain again. You know, they have this other guy (I forgot his name) as a young Ra’s. Maybe that’s the part where they explain why or rather how Ra’s managed to come back into the story.

As for Bane, Selina Kyle and ‘a mad scientist’, they might be another gang of villain in the movie.

I have a little imagination of myself though. How about Johnny Depp as The Joker in a short scene? I am sure with those make up on, he might look a little similar to Heath Ledger’s ‘Joker’. No, I don’t mean to disrespect Ledger for his legendary play as The Joker but.. in one way, we all miss The Joker right? If we say ‘no’ to Johnny Depp as The Joker, how about CGI? Well.. I don’t think Nolan will opt the latter.

  2. Wasn’t there a picture of the set showing what was possibly the Lazarus pit?

They can keep the realistic tone and still have the Lazarus pit. Say the Lazarus pit is just the fountain of youth from mythology only it turns out that it actually exists. It’s no more far fetched then 1 guy taking on gangs of dudes and not getting his ass kicked, and taking down crime lords in a bat suit with gadgets.

  3. I knew it . I knew it. I knew it. There’s no way to finish out this trilogy without Liam Neeson coming back and play Ra’s Al Ghul again.

  4. Dude, hello: “The DEMON’S head?” You’re lucky all he did was lie to you!

Seriously though, I’m not bothered — like you said he was no doubt on a serious gag / lie through your teeth order.

I’m just curious if we’re seeing him in flashbacks, or if Nolan’s throwing ‘reality’ to the wind and bringing him back via Lazarus Pits. Maybe a combo of the two: He was found barely alive in the train wreckage and has been nursed back to health all this time using ancient herbs that have an almost “Lazarus effect.”

Either way, I’m glad to see him back!
