This is pretty unexpected of the Rock to even entertain the idea of a role like this considering he’s been making the most effort in excelling in the action film genre. I’d have easily been able to accept him foraying into the world of rom-coms, but the biopic genre requires me to sit back and give this one some serious thought. Dwayne Johnson has shown glimpses of greatness in his career and could possibly have the chops needed for the role. Pride has a history in sports as does the Rock so that much may be a benefit for him. I’m not quite sure what to think of this one yet, but I’ll give this one time to simmer and take another look later.

Johnson is dark skinned being half black and half Samoan.
They don’t need to see his birth certificate to verify that his skin is dark, and so is the person he is potentially playing on screen.
