Watch the Real Steel trailer

Real Steel is Hugh Jackman’s next potential film franchise, with pre-approved sequels, that’s been in production for a little bit and today we finally get a look at a trailer for the upcoming Disney flick. Let’s see what these guys have come up with:

Via: Deadline

I like what I’ve gathered from the cinematography, I like some of the shots and setting designs, and I like what little bit I can see of Jackman’s performance. I don’t like the rock-em-sock-em robot design, the annoying little Thor-kid, or the seemingly cheesy story and dialogue. Nope, not going on the ‘radar’.

  1. Guess some of the readers dont have kids yet, But as a father of a 5yr old son, This looks like a better time at the movies than One waaaaaay over-rated Panda film. A Film by-the-way that alot of these same readers went GA-GA over. (????)

    Rock’em Sock’em time

      1. Going to those as well most def!
this summer some major cheddar ($$$) will be dropped at the theatres
(always a pleasure for us when we get some good titles to watch)
        Thor-check! next up:
        X-men,TF3,Captain America,Green lantern(dragging my feet though),Super 8,Rise of the apes(still iffy),and maybee Conan

  2. Now that they’re revealed the basic story, it seems very unoriginal. How many times have we seen this story: the underdog being trained by a washed up fighter ? The father/son subplot has also been done a thousand times. Using robots as fighters makes it much more family friendly (in other words, wimpy) because there’s no real violence.

  3. Looks like good fun. And thankfully, it appears as if they’ve made a solid Father/Son film that’ll avoid the intense cheese that runs throughout “Over The Top”. Remember that one? It’s the one where Stallone is an armwrestler who becomes a better armwrestler when he wraps his index finger around his thumb. What?!

  4. From earlier teaser trailers, I thought this was going to be awesome. Then this trailer came along…and spoiled everything. Why did they have to add the kid in?! This movie didn’t need the kid angle. It was looking fine without it. Now it will most likely get ruined by this kid’s acting and the sappy pseudo-father/son plot line. Arrrg. I may put it on my Netflix queue, but it definitely just lost points in my book.

  5. It’s on my radar. I can see why they want a sequel. That said, given the premise I see here, I wonder if last month’s news spoils the movie…unless Adam comes back as a waffle iron…

  6. I actually like the look of this movie because it seems to be a movie meant for everyone to enjoy. The cheesy dialogue and rock-em-sock-em robots, IMHO, make the film look fun. In fact, this seems like the type of movie a dad would take his son to go see.

    1. I was thinking the exact same thing. It looks like a great dad/son movie and I’m all for it. It doesn’t seem like we get a lot of those type of movies. Good clean fun…
