X-Men: First Class Cast Photo

I have been anxiously awaiting to see SOMETHING from this new movie in the x-men franchise. I get the impression that Marvel is making an intentional push with their movies this week seeing as how we’ve been seeing so many anticipated shots leaking on the web. First Captain America, then Thor, add a helping of Spider-Man and wrap things up with today’s serving of some X-Men.

Daily Blam

X-Men First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

I’m really undecided about the look of the characters. They seem to maintain some elements from previous X-men films for familiarities sake but the characters look a lot older then I initially anticipated and I wasn’t expecting to see uniforms on the team. January Jones as Emma Frost seems to be everything that fans of the comics have hoped for and she “wears” the “costume” very well. Very very well. Nobody else seems to stand out to me but I hope to see some footage from the movie soon to get a better feel for the movie. Does this shot get you excited for the forthcoming film?

Anyone spot any clues or tidbits in this shot that I missed?

Excited isn’t the word, I would say I’ve been hopeful. This shot isn’t helping.

  2. HDpunk says:

    looks terrible

  3. Bill says:

And the Red Guy is who?!?

  4. W.Lambert says:

Ok, the Red guy is Azazel, he is the biological father of Nightcrawler.
The Asian girl should be, Angel Salvadore.
The kid directly behind her should be, Lucas Till, playing Alex Summers aka Havoc.

    • W.Lambert says:

Forgive me she is not asian. I laughed thought someone else would.
She is Zoe Kravitz daughter of Lenny Kravitz.

  5. Jordan says:

“Kerplunk!”, the sound of my interest falling in the toilet. Looks bad.

  6. Darren says:

Nothing too exciting. January Jones on the other hand…
Anyway, that said, What were you expecting? This is only a teaser, nothing more.

  7. Roderick says:

ehhh… Jones is kinda scrawny to play Emma Frost…

  8. knossis says:

Can anyone say made for tv movie? Cause that is what this photo looks like. It look’s like a photo op for a tv guide spread. I’m not liking this so far. Maybe it’ll look better during the trailer. This might be a bad year for Superhero movies. Nothing I’ve seen from Thor or Green Latern has my hopes up. Captain America you’re our only hope.

    • Rodney says:

I dont see how this is any different than any other teaser image brought out for an X-Film.

I don’t understand your displeasure with this. Its just people in their character costumes… just like the last 4 X-Films.

      • knossis says:

Rodney, I respect the fact that they at least got the coloring of the uniforms correct but the overall aesthetic just doesn’t look right. Maybe it has something to do with the quality of the uniforms or the fact that there are a lot of characters with colored faces in the pic. It just has the made for tv feel to it. It’s like they took everything to literally. When you’re trying to blend fantasy elements in our contempary setting it helps if you subdue outlandish colors somewhat. If not it just comes off kinda corny looking. But, I’ll reserve final judgement until I see the trailer and storyline.

      • Rodney says:

Out of the nine characters present there are 3 with non traditional skin tones. And these are MUTANTS – the very point is that sometimes the mutations make the mutant look different too. If they DIDNT make those characters look like that, people would be complaining that its not true to the source material. You can’t have a younger Raven Darkholme who’s normal appearance (not shifted) isn’t blue. You cant have an Azazel that isn’t red.

And its set in the 60s. Its going to have a little different look to it than the previous films as it is not contemporary.

  9. Sardaukar says:

FOX has indicated that is NOT an authorized image from the film.

  10. J Cribbs says:

Looks like it’s Fantastic 4 quality.

    • Rodney says:

Fanastic Four “looked” really great until we saw the movie. Then it was all varieties of opinions.

I don’t know if your statement is good or bad.

  11. Art says:

Not impressed. And I was very excited about this. I’m still excited but this picture does nothing to build my excitement.

  12. BMartz says:

Leave it to Fox to desecrate the sacred Marvel franchises they own the rights for. If only Marvel still had the movie rights to these characters. Look at the world they are creating with Avengers… One could only wish!

    • Rodney says:

How exactly does this desecrate the characters? If Marvel released this exact same image suddenly it would be acceptable??

      I dont understand this hate.

This image is a teaser, and I dont get how anyone would be over the moon excited by this glimpse or mad stupid hating on it by this brief look at the roster.

  13. Bruce says:

this doesn’t look good to me :(

  14. Jordan says:

One problem I’ve had with a lot of contemporary action films is that everyone is just so damn skinny. The look and feel of this picture makes me think of a high school show with a couple of teachers on the left.

  15. Slushie Man says:

I just don’t understand how so many people can base their entire opinion of the movie off just one small promo image that doesn’t even show much.

Oh that’s right, because most people seem to be pre-determined to hate it, that’s why. Man, internet fanboys really piss me off.

  16. enlight78 says:

The poster just look weak and the make up looks off. maybe its the lighting. The previous x-men posters embodied danger or strength or tension.
If the quality of the teaser poster is not even up to par. I don’t have much hope for the rest.Emma frost looks like a angst victoria secret model, lol

    • Rodney says:

Its already been said that this is a preview image that wasn’t ready for release. It wasn’t intended to be released like this, so obviously its not “up to par”

It is just a teaser image that was put together and accidentally ended up on MSN’s public image library.

And yes… Emma Frost has ALWAYS looked like a Victoria Secret model… that’s the point.

  17. 420BAND says:

jUST REMEMBER THE 1ST x-MOVIE AND HOW THOSE BLACK OUTFITS LOOKED!(CHEESY RIGHT?) HEY AT LEAST THE COLORS ARE CORRECT.

SHIT, SORRY for the caps (too lazy to fix)

    • 420BAND says:

Meaning that we cant go off on 1 photo, lets give it some time guy’s.

the premise has me intrigued enough.

and again, at least they have the colors on, and not just Black Leather outfits (that drove me crazy)

  18. Anthony says:

I’m with 420 on this. It’s foolish to judge the movie at this time and could lead to a lot of people eating their words. and BTW… I HATED the promo images to the first X-Men film but ended up liking the film. Crazy, right?
