Director Adam McKay reveals Anchorman info

YES! Yes! yes! director Adam McKay is beginning to get pressed about the news of a sequel to anchorman. Obviously he didn’t want to reveal too much about the story as they’re still developing the script but he did reveal some things to make the imagination go wild.

Some rough story details are already in place, including the likely return of Christina Applegate as Veronica Corningstone.

“[W]e have an idea for her that we think is pretty cool,” McKay explains, “So tentatively right now she’s in. But obviously we kind of have to let it be what it’s gonna be. We don’t want to handcuff ourselves, but we love Applegate, so any chance to work with her is always fun.”

“I’ll tell you we’re staying roughly period,” McKay continues of the sequel’s setting, “and I would just say it’s the next stage in the development of American media and news. The fun of these characters is they confront change very poorly. So they’ve got some more change coming their way. I can say that pretty safely.”

“I don’t want to give away too much, but I’ll just give a couple pieces of ideas that we’ve kicked around. Keep in mind we’re still writing the story, but I’ll say one phrase for you: custody battle. I’ll give you that. I’ll give you one other one: bowling for dollars.”

Custody Battle! Did you read that! That’s what I wanna hear along with more Christina Applegate and these guys trying to adapting to the next stage of media and news. But if they stay true to the film being a period piece then we shouldn’t presume that they’re going to adapt to how bloggers now run the world, so what was the obstacle for Anchormen of that time?  I can’t wait to see where things go from here. I’ll let you know what ever other nuggets of information are discovered on the road to production. Right now they guys are working on the script and it’ll be a few months before they iron out all the details but they’ve got a good foundation and have released just enough for us internet nerdz to rally behind their effort.

  1. I’ve heard Up All Night has a good chance to be renewed for a second season, so I hope it work out with the film schedule to get Applegate.  I look forward to more news on this as it’s released/leaked.P.S. I visit this site daily and have never had pop-up video ads (and I don’t run adblock or anything).

    1.  @StevenPaluch Which ad in particular are you referring to? We are conscience of the ad presence on the site and try not to make the too intrusive to the reading experience and have something in the pipes to make them even less intrusive. Hope you understand that the ads are needed to help us cover expenses of running the site and keep with us while we work on implementing our changes.

      1.  @anone25 The video pop up ads in the lower right that like to play the same exact video on consecutive pages.  Ads are one thing, ads that make you turn off your sound are another.

        1.  @StevenPaluch  I just got updated that the ads are currently set so they do not display more than once every 12 hours based on the IP you are accessing the site. I found out from testing that once you mute the ads that they stay muted the next day when it re-appears, have you tried this?
