Rejoice! We’re that much closer to the finish line! Spread the news boys and girls because Peter Jackson has announced that he’s finished principle photography on the Hobbit and is now moving on to the easy part of post production. Check out the message he posted on his Facebook page:

We made it! Shoot day 266 and the end of principal photography on ‘The Hobbit,’” he wrote. “Thanks to our fantastic cast and crew for getting us this far, and to all of you for your support! Next stop, the cutting room. Oh, and Comic Con!

The Hobbit is expected to hit theaters on December 13th and with them finishing up principle in July it’s gonna be a race to the finish line to polish the film and to make it theater ready. I’m almost embarrassed to say that I’m looking forward to finding out the length of his first cut.
