Trailer: Jack Reacher

— Posted by Elliot Hopper

Jack Reacher is an upcoming film adaptation to the 2005 novel One Shot by British author Jim Grant, who goes under the pen name Lee Child. Originally titled One Shot the film is produced by and stars Tom Cruise as the title character. Cruise has always had a relative demeanor about him, but after watching the trailer it feels like there should something more enigmatic about his character. Or perhaps in my own ways, I’m comparing what I don’t know of the film and character himself to the likes of recent films like Dredd and Taken. The trailer itself in all honesty looked ‘relative’ and ‘expected’ but there were bits of comical anonymity that carried through. Grant himself has been quoted as saying, “Reacher’s size in the books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force, which Cruise portrays in his own way.” So if the author himself is signing off in that regard, I think it’s fair enough to give this film a fair shake and check it out when it hits theatres later this year on December 21st. (At least for me personally.) But in the meantime, give the full-length trailer a watch below and let us know what your first impressions are!
