Uhm, is the Daredevil movie dead?

You may or may not know this but Joe Carnahan became the go to guy for the Daredevil film when David Slade threw his hands up in the air and walked away from the project due to a lack of progress in development. The Grey/A-Team director was all pumped to direct the film and he has to have production started soon before the rights revert back to Marvel but it’s getting to the point that it just doesn’t seem likely that Fox will go that route and Carnahan all but revealed as much on his twitter recently.

“Think my idea for a certain retro, red-suited, Serpico-styled superhero went up in smoke today kids…

…We shall see. Time is NOT on anyone’s side.”

That’s the word from the director himself and if he’s not sure, then what hope do we have? Casting, writing, and filming need to be started yesterday and the question on the studios’ mind, I’m sure, is whether or not they can make a profitable film based on the character that’s really worth their while. It’s possible and Carnahan is the kinda guy to be able to get that done but I’m starting to wonder if I should just let the casket drop and let Marvel have a go at the character if they get the rights back. I wouldn’t mind Daredevil in the Avengers, would you?
