It seems that the cast of victims for Scream 4 is taking a small detour as the previously reported role of “Jill” originally said to be played by Ashley Greene will now be played by Emma Roberts.
According to EW, Ashley Greene has been replaced by Emma Roberts, of Nancy Drew fame. Greene was supposed to play the role of Jill, one of the film’s main heroines. She is the cousin of Neve Campbell’s character, Sidney Prescott, who appeared in the franchise’s previous films. And as you might expect, everyone is very happy. “I’m so excited to be part of this ground-breaking franchise,” says Roberts. “It’s the perfect opportunity for me to do something completely different than I’ve ever done before.”
Director Wes Craven told EW: “Emma’s talent, beauty, and range will add immensely to the sophistication, intensity, and fun of the Scream franchise as it returns to the screen once more.”
Wes speaks highly of Roberts and quite possibly this new Trilogy will revolve around her as the heroine.
I like that Emma Roberts is quickly shedding the kiddie roles and getting into more age appropriate stuff.
And while I like Ashley Greene just fine, this girl looks like she could have played Neve Campbells sister or daughter for that matter – but we will settle on cousin.
We will never know if Greene would have been better in the role, but I am satisfied with Emma Roberts being attached.
Will Greene still be involved, but just not in this role? This is starting to film at the end of June, and with Greene settling her Twilight contract, perhaps she walked from this prompting the replacement.
