Now everyone has seen Blade Runner, and if you haven’t then you need to re-consider your priorities in life, and for the most part we all summarily deemed the film ‘epic’, ‘awesome’, and a slew of other apt adectives. All fine and dandy but I just decided to browse through some posts on io9 and found something that’s quite… interesting:
…the scene where Deckard goes backstage at a night club to interview the exotic dancer Zhora, who comes in with the synthetic snake she just used in her dance. The dance itself was never filmed… until now. Actress Joanna Cassify, who played Zhora in the 1982 film, decided to just up and record the scene a little while ago, complete with movie accurate make-up and snake, and then posted it for her fans. A few thoughts:
1) Given that the movie is over 30 years old, Joanna Cassidy has aged remarkably well.
2) Her house’s entryway looks nice.
3) I’m going to go out on a limb and say this is not the music Ridley Scott would have chosen for the scene had he included it in the movie. Hopefully.
4) I would like to assume Cassidy has a smoke machine going at all times in her house.

This was… er, surreal. It will haunt me whenever I close my eyes. Not sure I want to sleep tonight now!
I think someone has a little too much time on her hands and is looking to try and drum up some promotion and publicity for herself.
Anyone ever seen, “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” That scene where an aging actress tries to reclaim her fame by singing a song she performed in her childhood? This is almost as creepy and just screams, “I”M STILL RELEVANT. I’M STILL SEXY AND CAN PLAY SOMEONE HALF MY AGE.”
Miss Cassidy, you are not Ridley Scott. Do not try and interpret what “might have been”. Something tells me this would NEVER HAVE BEEN and I wish it had remained a wishful daydream inside your head.
