Trailer: Guardians of the Galaxy

— Posted by Ryan

See it while you can! This is leaked footage from the San Diego Comic-Con and it will not last long. The quality is obviously poor but the video gives you an idea of what you can look forward to.

The music gives the idea that the film will be taken lightly, probably so the audience can be more accepting of an animated raccoon superhero. This is more of a teaser than anything else but hopefully we’ll get a higher quality trailer soon. Anyone have any thoughts based on this teaser?

First and foremost, Ryan Brown is a fan. He has been an avid fan of both the theater and cinema since an early age and his passion for both has been continually growing ever since. When dissecting a film, he focuses on all elements of film-making including some fan/cult factors. He believes that character development is the foundation of a good film and usually starts his analysis of a film from there moving forward. His writing style may be influenced by his background of narrative and argumentative studies in the subject, but he tends to enjoy a more conversational style to better interact with the readers, unlike some other pretentious and pompous writers.

  1. I think making GOTG is a brilliant idea. I can tell by reading your comment that you do not read comics but like superhero movies. This is totally fine but you have to understand that comic readers (like me) can see this differently. Let me give you a couple of examples.

We saw Thanos at the end of The Avengers. Thanos is more than a villain, he is a threat to the entire Marvel Universe. "The Mad Titan" is so in love with Death that he wants to destroy all life. He's a true nihlist. He is one of the coolest and most complex characters in comics. He also can not be introduced as an Avengers villain until we see him in space, GOTG is the bridge. Drax (featured in this video) is a long time enemy of Thanos and Nebula (confirmed in this movie) is the grand-daughter of Thanos. Don't forget, he played a pivotal role behind the scenes in The Avengers.

The villain of GOTG has been confirmed to be Ronan the Accuser. This means we will see the alien race known as The Kree. This is probably the beginning of Mar-Vel and Carol Danvers. Carol Danvers is one of the top female characters at Marvel, she is an Avenger and a current fan favorite. I believe we will get her introduction soon.

All I'm saying is that comic book fans can see a bigger picture where the movie fans just can't seen. You don't like the idea of Rocket Raccoon, I understand that but you have to understand that without a machine gun wielding raccoon, we don't get Thanos. Please keep in mind that all of this ties together. This will be a fun movie and hopefully along the lines of Star Wars.

  2. I wouldn't worry about the name or the following, they have a great cast with name recognition, and now thy are adding Vin. Plus it is going to tie in to the Marvel-verse which will draw interest. Personally I like that they are plucking a non headline line for a movie, it keeps it fresh. If this is done right I think this will just as popular as Avengers. Besides all they have to do is just show this trailer and people will get hyped. Imagine the buzz after this gets shown before Thor 2.
