Angela Bassett replaced as Amanda Waller in DC Movie Universe

Angela Bassett Amanda Waller

One of the things that stood out to me as stellar casting in that hum-ho Man of Steel Green Lantern movie was the casting of Angela Bassett as no-nonsense, tough as nails, Amanda Waller a.k.a. DC’s answer to Sam Jackson’s Nick Fury. Bassett didn’t have a huge role but I thought it might have been a move of DC securing a top notch actor in what is possibly a character to appear in and tie together all of their films.

Viola DavisNOPE. Word is hitting the net that David Ayer is instead locking in Oscar nominee Viola Davis in the role. I wouldn’t call this move an upgrade in talent like with Terrance Howard and Don Cheadle in Iron Man, but more of a side step. I’m not complaining, just puzzled because they’re equally awesome actors and one has to wonder… WTF happened to cause the re-casting. Hell, Bassett was pretty excited about joining in on the fun while promoting Man of Steel so the casting switch is a little surprising.

One can only wonder. That’s all for now…

      1. What’s happened to the quality on this blog, man? It used to be all kinds of awesome under Campea. The quality’s been steadily declining all these years. And yet, I still load it every time I switch on my laptop. Why? Because of the (unintentional) humor on offer. And, the facepalm-worthy (intentional?) smugness.

        1. Campea still blogs and if I can twist his arm hard enough he might even contribute a review or two to our site. The site is certainly different and different isn’t a bad thing!

Thanks for sticking around and caring enough to comment!
