Chadwick Bosemen to ‘Get on Up’ in James Brown flick

I won’t claim to be a Chadwick Boseman fan but I will say tha tthe guy has my interest. He’s widely recognized for his portrayal of the great Jackie Robinson in the film ’42’ but now he’s taking on another iconic man in black history with a movie revolving around the life of James Brown. Not sure if this is his schtick of coincidence but he’s got some momentum and definitely has talent. Universal Pictures was kind enough to share the poster, synopsis, and trailer with us and I am not passing that ish over to you guys:

Synopsis

In his follow-up to the four-time Academy Award®-nominated blockbuster The Help, Tate Taylor directs 42’s Chadwick Boseman as James Brown in Get on Up.  Based on the incredible life story of the Godfather of Soul, the film will give a fearless look inside the music, moves and moods of Brown, taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.  Boseman is joined in the drama by Nelsan Ellis, Dan Aykroyd, Viola Davis, Craig Robinson, Octavia Spencer, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter and Jill Scott.

Absolutely fascinating. It’s not an award contending black historical film unless you have Viola Davis. We’ll see what the Academy thinks…
