So awesome. What do you get when you take 300, add some Gladiator, mix in some Egyption Gods with Jaime Lannister Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and a healthy smothering of iffy CGI insanity? Well, it looks something like this new trailer for Gods of Egypt. Check out the trailer:
I’ve been wondering when they would release a new Wrath of the Titans movie and since that likely won’t happen this looks to be the next best thing. Whoever decided to cast Gerard Butler as the villain just to fuck with 300 fans is clever but I’m not sure that will save this film. He seems just as visceral as Leonidas when in human form but has that mythical flair and you have a recipe for an all around interesting villain. This reminds me of one of those films that shows up at a Comic Con but isn’t a comic yet tries really hard to appeal to comic fans. They typically suffer the sloppy writing curse that seems to ruin too many movies these days. That and the gratuitous amount of white people that seem to in habit this version of ancient Egypt.
Impossible to tell where this one will fall in the color spectrum but it’s looking so awesome.
