Kingsman – A star studded spy film with the official song by Take That

KINGSMAN

With 2015 now well and truly underway it is worth taking a look at what we have to look forward to this year in the cinema, and coming up soon is the highly anticipated epic action-spy adventure Kingsman: The Secret Service. The film is set for release on the 29th of January in the UK and the 13th of February is the US, and cinema showings are set to sell out due to the buzz surrounding this film from Matthew Vaughn. Vaughn is best known for directing Kick-Ass, Stardust, Layer Cake, and X-Men: First Class, so he is no beginner to telling action packed adventures.

KSS_JB_D27_02661.CR2Kingsman: The Secret Service is based on Mark Millar’s comic, and explores the world of espionage through an experienced secret agent guiding and teaching a young protégé the ropes just as a global threat emerges. This is a hugely popular genre and one with many excellent films in recent times, but what is attracting so much attention about Kingsman: The Secret Service is the star studded line-up. The film features Colin Firth as Harry Hart, Michael Caine as Arthur, Samuel L. Jackson as Richmond Valentine, Jack Davenport as Lancelot plus a host of other top actors, and in addition to this it boasts cameos from David Beckham, Elton John, Adele and Lady Gaga. With so many established names attached to this film it is clearly something special and not to be missed.

As of that wasn’t enough, legendary boyband Take That have recently been confirmed as the official song for the film. The film has a strong British identity to it, so it seems fitting that the theme for the movie is given by one of the most recognisable and celebrated British acts of all time. The track is titled “Get Ready for It”, and is taken from their recent 7th studio album titled III, which was released in November 2014 with original members Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen recording the album.

Kingsman: The Secret Service looks set to kick off 2015 with a bang and should breathe new life into the action-spy genre. Instead of jumping straight into the action like the majority of these films, Kingsman cleverly introduces the spy agency through the recruitment process. This includes a promising street kid, which adds a touch of humour to the explosive action as well as juxtaposing urban lifestyle with the traditional Britishness that spy films are so famous for.

The film looks like a must see this year with such a star studded line-up and so many names keen to attach themselves to the project. Directed by a talented director with some of the greatest actors of recent times teaming up, a host of incredible cameos and a theme song written by one of Britain’s greatest pop acts and a compelling storyline, be sure to catch Kingsman: The Secret Service on the big screen when it is released.
