Trailer: The Young Messiah

The Passion of the Christ was an amazing movie, (that I’ll never ever watch again), that explored the last days of Jesus. For a while studios have toyed with the idea of seeing more of the life of Jesus in his earlier years for wide release with Focus Features doing the honors of providing the most recent non-tv depiction of Jesus. The new trailer was released recently so let’s take a look and nitpick:

It’s interesting to see the confusion and overall lack of confidence in Jesus’ mother, Mary, as she tried to cope with raising a messiah. I don’t remember that aspect of the story being explored much but one has to wonder how a 16 year old copes with giving birth to a child with no husband in sight!

The character of Jesus is mainly referenced although we do see the character we don’t see much of his story told. I wonder if this will be just an observational piece with characters surrounding and reacting to his life or if the story will be told from his perspective. The film is already incredibly excellence simply due to the casting of Sean Bean who makes every sword wielding film excellent. I’m curious about this movie and don’t have too much negativity toward it until we see more so they’re off to a good start. I’ll keep you posted if anything else pops up.
