In his continued quest to pursue proud family-friendly mediocrity, Eddie “Meet Dave” Murphy seems to be starring in a comic fantasy about a workaholic dad (Murphy) who neglects his pweecoshus daughter (Yara Shahidi) until imaginative elements of her creation begin to have an effect on his career
I have to agree that Eddie Murphy hasn’t hit one out of the park lately. Even though he seems more inclined to do family friendly films, there is no reason they cannot be big hits.
Unless he plans not to be in them.
However this one doesn’t look so bad. I actually don’t mind the neglected child/workaholic dad story with a supernatural twist that brings them together. Its not the most original concept in the world, but I don’t think its been beaten to death and still stands a chance at a happy ending.
I still hold a glimmer of hope that we will see Eddie Murphy shine again.
“Outlander” begins when a space craft crashes into the majestic fjords of ancient Norway and into the time of the Vikings. From the wreckage emerge two bitter enemies: a soldier from another world – Kainan (James Caviezel) – and a bloodthirsty creature known as the Moorwen. Man and monster both seeking revenge for violence committed against them. As the Moorwen ravages the Viking world, killing everything in its path, Kainan forms an unlikely alliance with the primitive but fierce warriors. Combining his advanced technology with ancient Iron Age weapons, the hero leads a desperate attempt to kill the monster – before it destroys them all.
I actually want to see this now. Originally I wasn’t distracted by it at all, but now it has me paying attention.
Let’s be honest here, anyone who saw Crank knows that there really didn’t need to be a sequel.
But we are getting one anyways and it looks like fun! And while they are pushing the suspension of disbelief we get to go on a thrill ride of silliness and action packed non-stop kickassery … and Amy Smart. The full Trailer has gone live online, so feast your eyes kiddies!
The inhabitants of Planet 51 live in fear of alien invasion. Their paranoia is realized when an astronaut arrives from Earth. Befriended by a young resident, he has to avoid capture in order to recover his spaceship and try to return home.
I really like the feel of this. It certainly offers a parallel to some other alien invasion stories but this time it shifts the focus on “the alien” because he is the human here.
The 50s style that the alien world takes on is rich with tributes to a simpler time and a slice of Americana, while still offering nods to sci-fi classics. Like the astronaut’s lofting “space walk” and notice the dog? That’s a pretty distinct skull pattern there!
The humour in this looks fun, and the premise is old but new again. I am looking forward to seeing what comes of this!
The full trailer for the “the”-less Fast and Furious has hit the net.
This trailer looks like the new film will promise some kickass action and some hot cars. Perfect. That is all I can hope for. This franchise started great, petered, then made a detour in a chapter I was surprised to like, and now its time to return to the origins with the original cast.
I have heard just as many people interested to see this film as I have in people who have written it off.
Seems that this is just one of those films that will appeal to its own little demographic. I personally don’t have a lot of interest in historical military dramas, so I have my own reasons not to see it.
But perhaps if they can grab your attention in six minutes you might change your mind.
The Wes Craven Classic Horror film, Last House on the Left is getting a new take. And who better to make the new version than the master of horror himself – Wes Craven.
The Japanese version of the Streetfighter: Legend of Chun-li trailer is online.
When I heard Kruek was going to play Chun-Li, I figured the look was right and shes a decent enough actress to play the part. And this trailer doesn’t look too bad (even if I dont understand most of what they are saying). The only complaint I have is that in a movie called the Legend of Chun-Li, we might actually see… I dont know… MORE CHUN-LI????
I actually have a lot of hope for this movie. It looks like a great approach to the Streetfighter movies. There is just FAR too many characters in this franchise to do a movie with all of them in it. Perhaps a series of movies that tells the individual story of some of the more popular characters, then involve some of the minor characters who have storyline that relates to that character.
And frankly ANYTHING would be better than the last attempt at live action Streetfighter.
The energy was almost tangible in the early ComicCon bootleg videos we saw of the Tron teaser Trailer. When people saw those light cycles you could hear the crowd buzz, but the real eruption happened when we saw Jeff Bridges grace the screen looking so badass in his jammies. Damn that was good. Now it looks like Bridges will have someone to share old Tron stories with the new younger cast – Bruce Boxleitner is back too!
Bruce Boxleitner has signed on to return in TRON 2.0, according to ComingSoon. Boxleitner played Alan Bradley, aka TRON, in the original 1982 Disney film Tron, and will reprise his role in the sequel. Previously announced, Jeff Bridges will reprise the role of Kevin Flynn
It also looks like the return of the original Tron actor has also quietly ushered an end to the Tr2n and TRZ rubbish as well. The article notes that IMDB and the industry trades are universally calling this project Tron 2.0.
I like that they are bringing back the actors from the first movie. I would like to see how the tech world has grown, and to parallel that we will get to see it through the eyes of some key elements of the original cast.
This summer I was up in Malibu visiting the set of a movie… and filming right next to it was another movie called “I Love You Man“. I knew nothing about it, so I wandered around and noticed Paul Rudd (who just rules by the way) and “Forgetting Sarah Marchall’s Jason Segel. Cool… I’ve been keeping my eye open for stuff from it ever since… and now the I Love You Man trailer has hit the web. I dig it. What do you think?
As I mentioned earlier, the new Wolverine trailer just kicks all kinds of ass. The movie may end up sucking all kinds of serious ass… but the trailer is damn good. My buddy Denis sent me the heads up on the trailer (not bootleg) online. Check it out:
There is a new Watchmen trailer out floating about the interweb and Movie Blog reader “Dave” was kind enough to give me the heads up on it.
It’s pretty damn good. I still have my worries about how this incredible story will translate to the big screen without compromises… so so far things look sweet. There is a bunch of stuff from the previous trailer in this one… but a bunch of new stuff too. Check it out:
Isn’t if funny how far we’ve come? It used to be trailer promoted movies… and now trailers have trailers. Anyway, Terminator: Salvation is a film I still don’t really know how to feel about. On the one hand it does have Christian Bale in it and the Terminator universe is just awesome (let’s not talk about T-3 shall we?). But on the other hand… it just feels wrong. The franchise has run its course and it’s fricken McG.
Anyway, looks like Entertainment Tonight is running a little promo for when they’re going to unveil the new trailer. Yes… this is a trailer for the the trailer. Enjoy:
With news of a Ghostbusters sequel in the works, it is great to be able to look back at what came before to mentally prepare us for cinematic gold, or utter failure. We have to have a measuring stick on the franchise, and what better way to haul us into nostalgic bliss than with a platform video game with the original voice actors!
The animation looks great for the ghosts, and a little detatched for the guys. Granted, the voice acting pulls those laces tight again and it looks like they can pull it off. No word on gameplay, but if anything this makes me want to get the guys to pull on their proton packs for another film. Rumour has it they will be “passing the torch” to a new younger team, but I hope they only do this to retire and then get called on to save the day when the rookies can’t pull their weight.
TMB International Friend RonSalon tips us off to an updated trailer for Star Trek. How updated? Well it is the same trailer we were introduced to last week… With a little more.
You have to watch the whole thing to see the three seconds of extra footage, but it is worth it to see a very old looking Spock offer a “Live Long and Prosper”
Thanks to ThinkHero.com we get a peek at Astroboy. Looks pretty accurate to me, though I figured we might get a look at his bare chested action mode outfit instead of just a peek at his “I am a real boy” digs.
I don’t have much hope for the new Star Trek movie to be honest with you… but “not much” hope means there’s still a little bit. We all had a chance to see the youtube bootleg version of the new Star Trek trailer the other day, and now they’ve released the full quality version.
Hope or no hope, I’ve gotta say I do like this trailer.
