I just don’t get why Miramax honchos aren’t singing the praises of Zhang Yimou‘s Hero from the roof tops, but once again rather than actually releasing the film they’ve delayed it. This time they’re saying summer 2004, which most people seem to think means sometime in August. Yet another delay on this became pretty much inevitable when they pushed the release of Tarantino’s Kill Bill Vol. 2 back to Hero’s April release date, but it’s still dead irritating.
In happier Yimou related news, Monkey Peaches has posted a series of production stills from his newest film, the title of which is being variously reported as Ambush From Ten Directions, House of 1000 Daggers and Lovers. The images mostly revolve around the very difficult to look at Zhang Ziyi and Takeshi Kaneshiro. This one looks as though it will be a worthy follow up to the brilliance of Hero. Check them out:
