Just in case there are any doubts left about the focus of Gibson’s incredibly successful marketing campaign for the Passion here’s another little story for you … According to the Hollywood Reporter Sam’s Club (that’d be the big, bulk warehouse arm of Wal-Mart) will be offering the DVD release of The Passion in bulk packs of fifty. Fifty copies of the same DVD! Who needs fifty copies of the Passion? My local blockbuster probably won’t even stock that many … The answer? Sam’s Club is marketing this as a “church pack”. It’s only a matter of time now before we start hearing about how all good Christians should have a copy of this …
