You a Genre Film Fan in Toronto? Get Yourself Down to the Convention Center Pronto … Details on Appleseed’s Theatrical and DVD Releases and a Word With Chewbacca

Prior to tonight’s screening of Hero Nick and I made it down to the Convention Center aiming to spend a bit of time at Rue Morgue’s Festival of Fear, not realizing that it also included seperate comic, anime and sci-fi conventions. After cutting in front of a line of two or three hundred people waiting to buy tickets – an accident! I swear! – we headed into the main exhibit hall where we had a little chat with Midnight Madness programmer Colin Geddes, tried to get Peter Mayhew to breache his Star Wars NDA, were sorely tempted by the plush cthulu dolls and snapped pictures of Kane Hodder aka Jason, Pinhead, Leatherface, and Lt. Sulu. George Romero, alas, hadnt yet hit the floor by the time we had to leave. What pics we did get will be posted just as soon as Nick gets the contents of his digital camera into my grubby little hands.

So … bits of useful information:

The new Blade: Trinity trailer kicks ass, or at least the bits I caught did.

The Resident Evil: Apocalypse trailer looks just as bad projected as it did downloaded.

Appleseed will be hitting theaters in November and on DVD in North America in either February or March 2005. That came straight from a Geneon rep.

And now a reasonable facsimile of my conversation with Peter “Chewbacca” Mayhew:

Me: So, do you know anything about these rumors of a war on the wookie planet in the third Star Wars film?

Chewie: No, no, no. I don’t write them. They don’t tell me anything.

Me: Do you really not know anything or are you just not allowed to say?

Chewie: No, no.

Woman next to Chewie: He knows. He’s just not allowed to say.
