Burt Reynolds joins Dukes of Hazzard

BurtReynolds.jpgNews from Empire is that the great (but slightly strange looking) Burt Reynolds is to play Boss Hogg, the baddie of the show, albeit an inept one.

He joins the illustrious cast of Seann William Scott, Johnny Knoxville and Jessica Simpson as Bo, Luke and Daisy Duke. Also signed up is Willie Nelson as the old Granda Uncle Jesse.

I can’t believe that out of the posts over the last few days there are so many remakes of old shows, and not very good shows at that. Oh yeah, Dukes was fun when we were kids, but not now. What could they possibly do that could make this movie a go see movie, apart from dress it up as a kiddie flick?

Then what of Burt Reynolds? He’s turned in a few excellent performances in his later years, and he decides to do this? One can only hope the money is good. Wasn’t Boogie Nights his big return and a turning back to more serious roles? I think this is a poor choice for him.

Are these really the right choices for the roles, and should these series even be resurrected?
