Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the Wolverine character from the X-Men flicks… but I love the bigger scope of the X-Men more. So while I’m excited to hear of more progress being made on a Wolverine film, I’m a little saddened by it at the same time because it means less attention being given to the over-all X-Men films (beyond the third one). Of coarse everything must be taken with a grain of salt here. Hugh Jackman still hasn’t officially signed on for a Wolverine film, and I’d suggest that without him I doubt this will get beyond the executive offices stage of production. But who knows… if they can replace James Bond….
The good people of Freeze Dried Movies give us this:
Twentieth Century Fox and “Troy” scribe David Benioff are sinking their claws into the “X-Men” comicbook franchise. In a seven-figure deal, Benioff has been hired to pen “Wolverine,” a spinoff focusing on the signature character from the studio’s lucrative “X-Men” series. Benioff will write with the expectation that a deal will be made for Hugh Jackman to reprise his role as the talon-clawed superhero.
Interesting choice for a writer. I’m not holding my breath, but this is at least a positive sign.
