Grudge 2 to retain Takashi Shimizu

JuOn2.jpgExcellent news for the sequel The Grudge 2 with Coming Soon reporting that Takashi Shimizu will return to Direct.

To be honest there was no other choice if they wanted to continue to be true to the story. The originals are very good and have a cult following, the Hollywood remake is just as good for the Western audience, and it’s giving the Asian market buckets of exposure in the mainstream.

I guess though that has it’s downside, just check the previous post about the Asian remake market, and how many more have been bought up since then?

Senator International, the Stateside operation of Senator Entertainment, has completed a management buyout and changed its name to Mandate Pictures.

With the announcement comes the news that The Grudge helmer Takashi Shimizu will return to direct the sequel for Ghost House Pictures, Mandate’s joint genre production label with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert.

Upcoming films include Dibbuk Box, Scarecrow, The Evil Dead, and 30 Days of Night.

Watch out for these other titles as well, there could be some interesting films to come out of their production house and the story behind Dibbuk Box has already whet my appetite.
