Great news on the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels, and believe me living my entire life in Scotland and the last eight years in Edinburgh has no basis on the following news from Coming Soon, really.
Taggart star Alex Norton (The Count of Monte Cristo) has joined the “Pirates of the Caribbean” sequels cast, reports the Daily Record. The 55-year-old actor will play Edinburgh sea captain Sam Bellamy. “I’ve only just heard that I got the part of Captain Bellamy. I’m really excited,” said Norton, “I start filming in Los Angeles next month. We then head out to the Caribbean island of St Vincent in June and July.”
Yeah! For those of you who don’t know, Taggart is a Police drama set in Glasgow which has the immortal catchphrase “there’s been a Myrdyr!”. Since the original actor Mark McManus passed on, the show has lost its real lead of Taggart, but is finally settling with Alex Norton as the lead, and its popularity has increased again. Anyway, this isn’t about Scottish TV Programmes!
So there’s an Edinburgh pirate! Superb news…although the actor’s from Glasgow, no one will ever know outside of Scotland!
Other interesting news on the Pirates front is that since his wife announced Chow Yun Fat had been signed up for the sequels (previous article), he has been trying to keep a low profile recently in order to…
…keep his image for his role in the upcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean” films a secret. However, he was caught earlier this month sporting a thick mustache and a goatee.
The other news, which has been reported just about everywhere in the last few days, is that both Stellan Skarsgard and Naomie Harris are also set to join the cast.
If you stop and take a look at the cast list already it’s quite unique and you have to give some serious kudos to the casting skills and the pulling power. If this film is a flop you’ll still want to see it just for the chance to see all these talents leaping around the screen together. However, I don’t think it will be a flop, I really don’t think that at all.
