Vantage Point gains director Pete Travis

A little while ago I highlighted the film Vantage Point which held a really interesting one line blurb regarding a presidential assassination shown from five different angles. Something which is a feature of the excellent TV series Boomtown.

How they’re going to handle it or develop it is anyone’s idea, for we have little more than the one liner and the information today from Variety through Coming Soon that Pete Travis, who directed the brilliant Omagh and the British TV shows Cold Feet and Henry VII, is directing:

Pete Travis will direct Vantage Point for Neal Moritz’s Original company at Columbia Pictures, reports Variety…Last fall, the studio bought the Barry L. Levy spec script for mid….After talking to several A-list directors, Original picked Travis, a Toronto Film Festival prizewinner for his film Omagh, which centers on the 1998 Irish Republican Army bombing that killed 29 people in the eponymous market town.

Keeping a close eye on this one, it certainly sounds like it has potential.
