Looks like Bryan Singer is up for another controversial and sinister movie akin to his previous work on Apt Pupil, taking the story of a young boy who conspired towards his own murder through Internet discussions with a fellow teenager. Bizarre to say the least, MovieWeb brings us more:
According to Variety, Warner Bros. has bought screen rights to Judy Bachrach’s article U Want Me 2 Kill Him? which appeared in the February edition of Vanity Fair. Bryan Singer will develop and direct the film.
The tale chronicled a bizarre Internet relationship between a 14-year-old loner with a vivid imagination and the 16-year-old with whom he corresponded. The younger boy wound up being stabbed twice and nearly killed by the older boy. The twisted saga left one charged as the co-conspirator in a murder attempt — his own.
That sounds right up Singers street to be quite frank, and the kind of material he could bring to life quite easily. Twisted, bizarre and complex, just like some of his previous movies.
The helmer is prepping WB’s Superman for a March shoot. Singer is also attached to direct a remake of Logan’s Run for WB and producer Joel Silver.
I have no idea what my Dad thinks about the Logan’s Run remake, but I can guess, and all of his words would be unprintable here apart from the bit about Jenny Agutter…actually that would be too. He’s a huge fan you see!
Still, I think there could be a good remake to be had here, it is an interesting story and perhaps was ahead of it’s production time which just added to its charm. However, with today’s budgets and production values, there’s great scope to make this much more than it was. Sorry Dad.
