Russell Crowe’s Biggest Fan is Russell Crowe

When it comes to his talents as an actor, I will defy anyone to convince me that Russell Crowe isn’t at LEAST in the top 5 best actors living today. He is powerful, diverse and totally captivating when he’s in front of a camera. He is just that damn good. However…

This guy is just so damn full of himself it’s making it difficult to separate the man off camera from the characters he plays on the screen. In other words… he’s proving to be such a jerk that it’s difficult to enjoy his amazing work.

In recent weeks we’ve talked about his claims of such self importance that Al-Qaeda wanted to kidnap him to destabilize our culture, and how he’s publicly taken shots at guys like Harrison Ford and Robert De Niro. Now Mr. Crowe wants to tell us all how great of a rock star he is. The good folks over at the BBC give us this:

He said his forthcoming album touched on varying subjects including “my beautiful wife, past relationships, my son, people I know, family tragedy”.

“It is without doubt the most satisfying record I’ve ever made, and I know when you hear it you will be seduced by its beauty,” said Crowe.

“I have e-mails from Sting and Billy Bragg, two of my songwriting heroes that give testament to the quiet power of the song.”

Yeah… this guy’s material has so much “beauty” and “quiet power” that his last album sold… are you ready for this… 156 copies in it’s first week of release. Whatever happened to saying “I hope you enjoy it”, or “I hope people like it” instead of telling me how frickin fantastic you are and that if I had any taste I’d buy your junk? It’s called humility, learn some you arrogant ass. I really WANT to be a fan of Crowe… but the man makes it pretty damn hard.
