Despite much of the backlash against The Blair Witch Project I actually enjoyed it. This was mainly achieved by cancelling out all the buzz and hype I’d heard before and walking into the cinema trying to imagine I’d heard nothing about it other than the documentaries produced to make it seem real. Then it took a different feel for me and I enjoyed it.
However, it’ll be interesting to see how the team who did it manage with their new projects. Eduardo Sanchez has one project on the go already Heart of Love and is about to start work on another horror, Coming Soon bring us:
Rogue Pictures, the genre arm of Universal specialty unit Focus Features, has picked up worldwide rights to horror film Altered to be directed by The Blair Witch Project co-creator Eduardo Sanchez.
The movie, which follows a group of men living a night of terror after their lives were changed 15 years earlier by a strange occurrence, begins filming next month in Florida.
The production team from the Blair Witch are on board as well. I wonder if they can come through with the goods and shake off the label of that movie. Good or bad, it really stuck with them and it will be interesting to see if they can bring such style into Hollywood and survive.
