Back in 1995, 20th Century Fox Germany and Lucasfilm contracted 9 of these to be made by a company called Pana Sensor in Frankfurt. They were to be part of a worldwide promotional tour highlighting the THX release of the original Star Wars Trilogy on home video. Because of a truck wreck several years ago, only 8 of these ships still exist…
…These incredible life-sized replicas were constructed from fiberglass, wood, and plastic, all placed over a steel frame. When fully assembled the X-Wing measures 28 feet long, 20 feet wide, and about 10 and a half feet tall. Total weight is approximately 2000 lbs.
Now, if only I had US $85,000 to buy it now…
