With the huge movies that are coming out just now and in the coming months I think I’d kind of put War of the Worlds to the side, and with the trailer and the chosen lead, I’ve not been so hyped about it.
Still, I’m interested, and with comments like these I think it might be a lot better than expected. From Empire through Coming Soon, the Producer Kathleen Kennedy said…
“…This is a deeply scary movie.”
The magazine says Spielberg and screenwriter David Koepp have put the emphasis on terror…”This is very much from the point of view of this family,” adds Kennedy. “At the same time, there is this gigantic backdrop of what is going on and what they’re running from.”
Tim Robbins stars as astronomer Ogilvy, a holdover from Wells’s novel. “He has one of the most tense sequences in the movie, where he poses a real threat to Tom’s character,” says Kennedy. “He is only in it for 20 to 25 minutes but he is absolutely riveting.”
Interesting comments, and backed up with the stat that Sith boasts around 2200 special effects and Worlds only about 500, it adds some credence to the possibility that the movie is more focused in on the family and their terror, more Signs than Independance Day. Phew!
