Alan Partridge lands Victoria Beckham

SteveCoogan.jpgThe real news from Dark Horizons here is that the Alan Partridge movie is going ahead. There had been some talk of it being off and on, and even on a couple of TV interviews I saw with Steve Coogan said that he wasn’t sure it was happening, then he was. So it is then!

For those of you who don’t know, Alan Partridge is a local radio DJ who really isn’t that good and has moved on to a failed TV career. He embarrasses his guests, is awkward and quite a loser really. All the great qualities that make people laugh at him! The comedian behind the character, Steve Coogan, is a genuinely sharp witted and funny man, and his characters are quite unique.

As for the appearance of Victoria Beckham – still known by some as Posh Spice – it seems that she is the vehicle to relaunch this failed career.

A source said: “The scripts for Partridge are obviously under wraps and writing is still in progress, but Victoria’s part is pretty much done and dusted. She’ll be the interviewee that finally allows Alan back on the airwaves with an incendiary chat and her part calls for some serious comic timing. She’ll add glamour to the project and prove she’s able to take the p**s with the rest of them, it’s a brilliant move for her.”

I’ve seen her and David more than willing to have the mickey taken out of themselves, realising that it’s all about the celebrity, and I don’t doubt her ability for the role of a diva celebrity!

Anyone else looking forward to the return of Aha! Alan Partidge?
