Quick! Catch this, not only is this movie going to be filming in the UK, is written by a Scottish writer Peter Capaldi, will star the great Scottish actor Ewan McGregor, but it’s an original script!
I know, it’s hard to believe there’s one out there, mind you it’s non-Hollywood so it probably would be original. Okay, enough sarcasm. Coming Soon carry the news:
Variety reports that Ewan McGregor (Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith) has committed to his next four movie roles, all in a single film – an untitled British comedy written and to be directed by fellow Scot Peter Capaldi (Strictly Sinatra).
In the period film within a period film, McGregor will play a 1930s Hollywood star, his stand-in and both of the 18th-century characters they play in the movie they’re shooting.
Capaldi’s multi-layered script deals with an epic film being shot in the 1930s about the Jacobite rebellion of 1745, in which Scottish forces loyal to Bonnie Prince Charlie tried to overthrow their English rulers. When the star goes missing, the producers trick an unassuming extra into filling his shoes, with surprising results.
Oh yes, more great Scottish stories. I love it. It certainly sounds intruiging, and original. Is McGregor trying to continue the emulation of the great Alec Guinness by finding a comedy with multiple roles much like Kind Hearts and Coronets?
