Al Pacino has 88 minutes

AlPacino.jpgIn something that sounds like a remake of one of the D.O.A. movies, Film Focus has the news of the new Al Pacino movie:

Al Pacino is teaming up with Director Jon Avnet (Fried Green Tomatoes) for a new high-tension thriller from screenwriter Gary Scott Thompson (The Fast And The Furious) entitled ’88 Minutes.’

The film pitches the high-concept scenario of an average College Professor (Pacino) who moonlights on the side as a forensic psychiatrist for the FBI (as you do). During his routine work he uncovers something sinister (but you knew that already) before receiving a deadly threat informing him he has just 88 minutes to live. Cue your atypical edge-of-the-seat action-thriller in which the good Professor embarks on a mission to hunt down his unknown enemy while attempting to get to the bottom of the conspiracy and solve the mystery.

The scoop is also that the last 88 minutes of the movie are going to be filmed in real time, so a mixture of the D.O.A. film and Nick of Time. Am I getting really cynical nowadays about new movies, or is Hollywood really getting this weak on new ideas? Still it will be good to see Pacino on screen, whatever the movie…won’t it?
