The talks are on for Antoine Fuqua (no sniggering) to direct a movie on the life of the rapper and producer known as Notorious B.I.G. (Biggie Smalls\Christopher Wallace) From Coming Soon:
According to Variety, the script is being written by Cheo Hodari Coker, a former journalist who also authored the bio “Unbelievable: The Life, Death, and Afterlife of the Notorious B.I.G.” The film is being produced by Wallace’s mother, Voletta Wallace, and by his former managers, Wayne Barrow and Mark Pitts.
Not being a huge fan of B.I.G. I can’t really comment on that side, however the potential for an interesting plot is there. The so called rap wars and the circumstances and conspiracy theories surrounding his murder would provide excellent material, and it also promises much that so many people close to him are involved in the project, perhaps it will reflect some truth as well. Then there’s the fact that Fuqua could be involved in the project, he’s an excellent Director, with a real passion for making movies and telling stories that can hit hard and touch on real problems and issues.
What we need now are some B.I.G. fans and knowlegeable readers out there to post up about what they think of the project and the names attached.
