Barry Manilow movie musical

BarryManilow.jpgPositioning this well I have to say I love all manner of music. Recently I’ve bought Black Eyed Peas, I like Hip Hop, Rap, Acoustic, Opera…I’m very eclectic. So the next revelation might just come a bit easier. I like Barry Manilow. You can blame my Mum for playing his records every Sunday, and this news will make her smile.

From Moviehole, the news is that Manilow wants to take his stage show to the big screen:

According to Sky News, the legendary crooner is planning a film version of his overplayed hit “Copacabana” and wants Oscar Winner Jamie Foxx to headline it.

Foxx would play hapless dreamer and secret musical star Tony Parker – if he gets time.

Says Manilow, “The whole concept is ready to go, but as yet Jamie is tied up with Miami Vice. But with him on board we have a smash hit film.”

I won’t, as Moviehole did, start singing the song and get it into your heads. You know they started “Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl, with yellow ribbons in her hair…” I wouldn’t do that to you, really.

Has anyone seen this on stage? Is it worth a film adaptation? Would anyone actually go to see it, apart from the die hard Manilow fans?
