I’ll never forget the first time I saw The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. The first time Karl Urban as Eomer came on the screen the girl I saw the movie with and another girl sitting in the seat in front of me both said at the same time “oh my god”. Yeah, Karl Urban is dreamy. But more than that, the guy is great. He was fantastic in Lord of the Rings, he was the only redeeming thing about The Chronicles of Riddick and he was solid in “>The Bourne Supremacy. This guy is going to be BIG in the next 3-5 years. Just watch.
Well now he’s just signed up to star in Pathfinder, a new film being directed by Marcus Nispel (Texas Chainsaw Massacre). The good folks over at Cinema Confidential give us this:
20th Century Fox will distribute the film about the Vikings and their discovery 500 years before Columbus. The story focuses on a Viking boy who is left behind and raised by the Native Americans. Years later, a war between the Vikings and the Indians ensue, and the boy becomes a key soldier in the war against the Vikings.
I think this sounds great. Has the chance of being a real epic scale sort of film. But then again… so did Troy and Kingdom of Heaven… and look how those turned out.
